WhatsApp is adding a 32-person group video call feature: Mark Zuckerberg

The addition of this capability is predicted to enhance rivalry between video calling and conference calling apps.

According to Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of parent company Meta, the video and voice calling feature of the instant messaging and calling software WhatsApp will soon be available.

Additionally, the company has begun experimenting with group video calls for up to 32 WhatsApp users.

“We’re rolling out call links on WhatsApp starting this week so you can share a link to start a call with a single tap. We are also testing secure encrypted video calling for up to 32 people. More coming soon,” Zuckerberg said in a post on social media platform Facebook.

With 487.5 million members as of June 2022, India is WhatsApp’s largest market.

From the call area, users can generate a call link that they can send to their loved ones. To use Call Links, WhatsApp users must have the most recent version of the application, and the deployment started this week.

It’s anticipated that the new functionality will make video calling and conferencing apps more competitive.
