Tesla has accomplished what Apple has not. Apple revealed AirPower, a wireless charging station capable of charging multiple devices at once, back in 2017. However, the product was cancelled due to technical difficulties.
Tesla has now introduced the Tesla wireless charging platform, which is inspired by its future Cybertruck and is capable of wirelessly charging up to three devices at the same time with up to 15W of power for each item.
The Tesla wireless charging platform appears to have drawn inspiration from AirPower, as it has “FreePower” technology, which can charge a phone or accessory wirelessly without requiring precise alignment of the device to the charging pad.
The wireless charger includes 30 coils in total with a little Tesla logo on the front. Based on the product images, the device appears to be designed for Apple consumers, capable of wireless charging iPhones, AirPods, and even the Apple Watch.
Tesla’s wireless charging platform is a well-made attachment with an Alcantara surface that prevents scratches on the smartphone. Similarly, it includes a detachable magnetic stand that allows users to position the phone flat or at an angle. The device also includes a 65W adapter to power the wireless charging pad.
Pricing and availability
The Tesla wireless charging platform is currently available for pre-order on Tesla’s web store for $300 (about Rs 25,000), which is an exorbitant price for a wireless charging pad. The device will begin shipping in February 2023, according to the business.
