When Downdetector reported 2,838 outages in India at 7pm on Sunday, a number of users experienced a blank screen on Twitter. Many users’ timelines didn’t update, and many accounts seemed to be empty. The alleged outage occurred after Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, posted a mysterious message saying, “The bots are in for a surprise tomorrow. The social media corporation didn’t issue a statement acknowledging the outage.
Many users complained that only Android-powered phones have a working Twitter app. Some people asserted that because Twitter was accessible on some networks but not on others, the outage was not caused by Jio subscribers using the service. One Twitter user asserted that using a VPN connection had no effect on Twitter.

The claimed disruption occurred on December 11, the day before Twitter Blue was relaunched with a higher charge for Apple users. With the updated service, users may now modify tweets, submit 1080p videos, and receive a blue checkmark after being verified.
