
While the controversy surrounding Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia over the former’s show, India’s Got Latent, has not calmed down, there is an outcry on social media for the ban on Munawar Faruqui’s comedy roast show, Hafta Vasooli, citing his alleged abusive language. Hashtags such as ‘Take Down Hafta Vasooli’ and ‘Boycott Munawar’ have been trending on X, with many users sharing the comedian’s old clips in which he is seen taking a dig at Hindu values and culture.
Hafta Vasooli started airing on JioHotstar earlier this month, with some of the clips trending on social media, which features the host, Munawar, employing abusive language while interacting with audience members. In another clip, he was seen mocking religion and used double- meaning jokes to evoke as he shared the stage with Saqib Saleem.
While several called out Munawar for his content on the show, others resurfaced his old clips in which he was seen making fun of the Hindu religion. The comedian was also labelled as “hate monger” by some, who also demanded an immediate ban on his show, Hafta Vasooli.
What is India’s Got Latent controversy?
A couple of weeks back, podcaster Ranveer appeared as a guest on Samay’s show, IGL, wherein he made a rather insensitive remark about parents and sex. The social media erupted in an uproar against Ranveer, and multiple FIRs were filed against him, Samay, and other guests on show, which included Apoorva Mukhija and Ashish Chanchlani.
While Ranveer apologized the next day after the release of controversial, a day later, Samay issued a statement admitting that he had deleted all the episodes from his YouTube channel.
The latest update says that Ranveer has moved to Supreme Court for clubbing of all his FIRs, wherein he was slammed by the bench of Justices.
