As India’s Operation Sindoor continues to dismantle key terror infrastructures in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, a post on X from the official handle of Pakistan’s Economic Affairs Division triggered a diplomatic stir.
The post appealed to international partners for urgent financial assistance, citing “heavy losses inflicted by the enemy” and crashing markets amid the ongoing India-Pakistan conflict. It read:
“Govt of Pakistan appeals to International Partners for more loans after heavy losses inflicted by enemy. Amid escalating war and stocks crash, we urge international partners to help de-escalate…”

In response, India’s Press Information Bureau (PIB) posted a viral meme mocking the statement, captioning it with a famous Bollywood line: “Ye koi tareeka hai bheek maangne ka?”

However, soon after the post gained widespread attention — amassing millions of views — Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a clarification, calling the post “fake” and claiming the Economic Affairs Division’s X account was hacked. The official fact-checking handle of Pakistan’s Ministry of Information & Broadcasting also released an alert, stating:
