In a statement to IANS, the business stated that it is actively collaborating with operator partners to ensure a smooth roll-out of 5G for users. “We are working closely with our operator partners and are committed to rolling out OTA updates across all our 5G devices by end of November 2022, enabling Indian consumers to experience 5G seamlessly,” a Samsung India spokesperson told IANS.
The business representative continued, “Samsung has been at the forefront of 5G technology research since 2009 and has taken the lead in standardising 5G technology globally.” Samsung has the largest selection of 5G devices in India.
To facilitate a smooth transition to the new technology, the government on Wednesday called a meeting of handset producers and telecom service providers. This is when the news was made. Prioritizing software updates would allow India to adopt 5G early.
Airtel and Jio have gradually introduced their 5G services in important metro areas. Plans for Vodafone-5G Idea’s rollout are not yet available. According to the most recent Ericsson research, India is home to more than 500 million smartphone users, and over 100 million of those people have devices that are 5G ready and want to upgrade to a 5G subscription in 2023.
According to the report, Indian smartphone users are willing to pay a premium of 45% for a plan that includes fresh experiences. This might be great news for Internet service providers getting ready for 5G.
To reach the roll-out timeframes, telecom service providers will face numerous obstacles, though.
