NFR Zone Indian Railways introduces HOG Technology for 2 running trains. For the journey up to New Jalpaiguri two trains, Delhi-Dibugarh Bramhaputra Mail Special and New Delhi-Agartala Rajdhani Special began running with HOG technology. However, all the trains will use this technology on the return trip also.
The full electrical load of AC, lighting, fans and other electrical devices of the whole rake will be taken from electric locomotives operating on electrical propulsion and, as a result, a ton of fuel will be saved during the trip.
The North East Frontier Railway(NFR) zone of Indian Railways has successfully begun . Running two of its trains with Head on Generation (HOG) technology.
Brief description
The diesel fuel savings technology in these two trains are estimated at approximately 1132 kilo liters per year. And this would save the overall expense of Rs 7.16 crores per year. HOG Technology would be accessible at Rs 6 per device. However, in competition with the EOG framework which now costs Rs 22 per device. Not only can this development save on the electricity prices but it would also continue to create a safer world for potential generations. As per a report by the NFR.
We are being updated to operate on technologies named Head on Generation (HOG). The new LHB (Linke Hofmann Busch) coaches were built to operate on End on Generation (EOG) system with two power cars on each end employing two DG sets. 23 rakes were rendered as HOG compliant in NFR out of a total of 49 LHB rakes and shall be placed into practice as and when the train services are launched. The remaining 26 LHB rakes were also expected to be upgraded during the current 2020-21 year as HOG compatible.
Under this latest method, the electricity source will be connected from overhead power lines to the train engine pantograph, and will then be transmitted to train heating, air conditioning, fans, and other machinery operating on the electrical supply.
HOG Is Future
The railway section has been approved for the electrification of the railway; the trains of the N.F. Railways with LHB coaches are being updated in multiple depots and the trial run is also ongoing.
Better efficiency can be accomplished attributed to the decreased amount of power generation facilities. Low maintenance and reduced weight of the train.
When moving to this modern HOG model, petrol bills would save tremendously. And precious money would be gained for import coal. In comparison, diesel engines often pollute the environment by generating about 1724.6 tons of carbon dioxide. And 7.48 tons of nitrogen oxide each year. Aside from creating about 100 db of noise. Under the latest HOG system, carbon dioxide. And nitrogen oxide levels would be negligible aside from being noiseless.
