Reliance Jio has finally launched its latest innovation, the Jio Bharat device, priced at Rs 999. This phone aims to provide affordable access to the best-in-class Jio 4G network for customers still using 2G technology. According to a press release by the company, “The beta trial for the first million JioBharat phones will begin on July 7.”

The phone comes with a Rs 123 plan with a validity of 28 days. Along with that, it offers 14GB of data (0.5 GB per day) as well. The company claims it to be seven times higher than any of its competitors. The same plan will cost Rs 1,234 annually, offering 168 GB of data (0.5 GB a day).

Let’s get into more details about this new launch.

The device has a compact design with  a 1.77-inch QVGA TFT screen. The Jio Bharat comes with a removable 1000mAh battery which is included in the package. The device is Jio SIM locked meaning it is necessary to insert a Jio sim before using it.

There are three pre-installed Jio apps available in the device as well. First is JioCinema, an app that offers a vast array of non-stop entertainment, including the latest web series, blockbuster movies, HBO Originals, sports content, and TV shows. Secondly, JioSaavn, India’s leading free music app, grants users access to an extensive and exclusive music library. Lastly, the device includes JioPay, a UPI-based digital payments app.

Jio Bharat has a bright torch and a radio installed in it, making it particularly useful in remote and rural areas. It also features a 3.5mm headphone jack, enabling users to connect earphones for content consumption or music listening. The device has a 0.3MP camera. Also, the device’s storage capacity can be increased by inserting an SD card of up to 128GB.
