File transfer service SendGB has reportedly been inaccessible to users of major Indian internet service providers (ISPs) since early 2024. The Estonia-based company, which offers free file transfers up to 5 GB, has found its platform blocked by ISPs including Airtel and Jio, according to company representatives.
Uğur Çakır, co-founder of SendGB, stated that the company has received numerous complaints from Indian users unable to access the service. “We have no information on why we have been blocked,” Çakır said. He added that attempts to contact Airtel and Jio through various channels have been unsuccessful.
The blockade has affected a significant portion of SendGB’s user base in India, where the platform has been popular since its launch in 2019. Many users in India reportedly rely on the service for global file transfer operations.
While the exact reason for the access restrictions remains unclear, some users have speculated it may be related to copyright concerns. Çakır addressed this possibility, stating, “Copyright content is one of our most sensitive issues. We promptly address DMCA complaints from India and other countries.”
The company maintains that it has always acted swiftly to remove any reported copyright content and has a dedicated page for handling such complaints.
SendGB is currently seeking support from Indian authorities to resolve the issue. “We hope that The Department of Telecommunications in India will take action to lift the blockade imposed by some ISPs,” Çakır said.
As the situation continues, users of affected ISPs in India remain unable to access the SendGB platform. The company awaits a response from Indian ISPs and regulatory bodies for clarification and potential resolution of the access issues.
