Google has announced the launch of WhatsApp and SMS chats for merchants to interact with their customers, aiming to further streamline communication for businesses in India. According to Roma Dutta Chobey, MD of Google India, the country’s digital revolution now spans 800 million internet users, supported by some of the world’s lowest data costs.
Chobey also highlighted that AI could potentially unlock ₹33 lakh crore in economic value for India by 2030. She praised the UPI system for transforming digital payments, enabling deliveries in under 10 minutes.
Google Play has also become a major economic engine, powering ₹4,000 crore in annual earnings for Indian developers. Moreover, Google has trained 2 million aspiring Android developers, fueling the growth of India’s digital ecosystem. India is now home to the world’s third-largest talent pool, strengthening its position as a leader in AI.
