Many Apple features are widely loved by users, but did you know that your iPhone can also understand ‘Harry Potter’ spells? That’s right—just like in the wizarding world, you can use magical commands to perform everyday functions on your iPhone. For example, you can switch to silent mode or turn on the flashlight simply by saying the right spell to Siri.

If you’re a Potterhead and eager to bring some magic to your iPhone, here’s what you need to know:

Lumos: Want to light up your surroundings? Just say, “Hey Siri, Lumos,” and your iPhone’s flashlight will turn on. In the Harry Potter series, ‘Lumos’ is used to turn a wand into a flashlight.

Nox: Need to turn off the light? Say, “Hey Siri, Nox,” and the flashlight will go out. This mirrors its use in the wizarding world to extinguish the light from a wand.

Accio: Open apps without lifting a finger by saying, “Hey Siri, Accio [App Name].” For example, “Hey Siri, Accio Instagram” will open Instagram. In the books, ‘Accio’ is a summoning spell, like when Harry uses it to call his broomstick during the Triwizard Tournament.

You can also create your own custom Harry Potter spells using Siri commands. For example, if you want to make a spell like “Lumos Maxima” to turn the flashlight on at full brightness, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Shortcuts app, go to the Shortcuts section, and tap the “+” icon in the top right corner.
  2. Tap on the Shortcut name at the top and rename it to the spell name, like “Lumos Maxima.”
  3. Tap on “Add Action.”
  4. Select “Set Flashlight” from the menu.
  5. Tap the blue arrow and toggle the setting to adjust the brightness.
  6. Test your spell by tapping the “Play” button at the bottom, then tap “Done.”

Now, you’re ready to cast spells on your iPhone just like a true wizard!
