Connections is the New York Times’ latest puzzle sensation, challenging you to categorize 16 words into four secret groups by discerning their relationships. Each night at midnight, a new puzzle awaits with varying levels of difficulty. Like Wordle, you can track your winning streak and compare scores with friends.
How to NYT Play Connections
In Connections, you’re presented with a grid of 16 words. Your mission? Organize these words into four groups of four by identifying their connections. The categories could range from video game titles to book series, shades of red, chain restaurant names, and more.
Some words may seem like they fit multiple categories, but there’s only one correct solution. You can shuffle and rearrange the words to better see the potential connections.
Each group is color-coded for difficulty:
- Yellow: Easiest
- Green: Moderate
- Blue: Hard
- Purple: Most challenging
Select four words and hit Submit. If correct, they’ll be removed from the grid, revealing the theme. If incorrect, it’s counted as a mistake. You have four mistakes before the game ends.
