The New York Times’ latest puzzle sensation, Connections, challenges you to categorize a pool of 16 words into four secret groups by figuring out their relationships. Like Wordle, this game lets you track your streak and compare scores with friends. New puzzles are released daily at midnight, each with its own level of difficulty.

Some days are trickier than others, so if you’re having trouble with today’s Connections puzzle, our tips and hints below might help. And if you’re still stumped, we’ll reveal today’s answers at the very end.

How to play Connections

In Connections, you’re given a grid of 16 words. Your goal is to organize these words into four sets of four by identifying the links that connect them. These sets could include categories like video game franchises, book series sequels, shades of red, or names of chain restaurants.

Words might seem like they fit multiple themes, but there’s only one correct solution. You can shuffle and rearrange the grid to better spot the connections.

Each group is color-coded:

  • Yellow (easiest)
  • Green
  • Blue
  • Purple (hardest)

Pick four words and hit Submit. If correct, the four words are removed, and the theme is revealed. Guess incorrectly, and it counts as a mistake. You have four mistakes until the game ends.
