Connections is the newest addition to the puzzle lineup from The New York Times. In this game, your goal is to group 16 words into four hidden categories by figuring out what they have in common. The puzzle refreshes every night at midnight, bringing a new challenge with varying difficulty levels each day. Like Wordle, you can track your streak and even compare scores with your friends.
How to Play NYT Connections
In Connections, you’re presented with a grid of 16 words, and your task is to sort them into four groups of four words each. The trick is to identify the common theme that links the words in each group. These themes could be anything from video game franchises to types of candy, or even something like shades of red.
Some words might seem like they fit into more than one group, but there’s only one correct solution. You can shuffle the words around in the grid to help spot the connections more easily.
Each group you find is color-coded: yellow is the easiest to spot, followed by green, blue, and then purple, which is the hardest. Once you think you’ve found a group, select four words and hit Submit. If you’re right, those words disappear from the grid and the theme is revealed. But be careful—if you guess wrong, it counts as a mistake, and you only get four mistakes before the game ends.
