Connections is the latest brain teaser from the New York Times, challenging you to categorize a pool of 16 words into four secret groups by figuring out their relationships. The puzzle resets every night at midnight, and each new challenge varies in difficulty. Much like Wordle, you can keep track of your winning streak and compare scores with friends.

Some days are trickier than others. If you’re struggling with today’s Connections puzzle, check out our tips and hints below. And if you still can’t crack it, we’ve got today’s answers at the very end.

How to play NYT Connections

In Connections, you’ll be presented with a grid of 16 words. Your goal? Sort these words into four sets of four by identifying the connections that bind them. These groups could encompass anything from video game franchises and book series sequels to shades of red and names of chain restaurants.

You might encounter words that seem to fit multiple categories, but there’s only one correct solution. You can shuffle and rearrange the grid to better spot potential connections.

Each group is color-coded: yellow (easiest), green, blue, and purple (hardest).

Select four words and hit Submit. If correct, those words are removed from the grid and their theme is revealed. An incorrect guess counts as a mistake, and you only have four mistakes before the game ends.
