NYT Connections: hints and answers for Saturday, June 22

Introducing Connections, the New York Times’ latest puzzle game. This challenging and engaging game requires you to categorize 16 words into four secret groups based on how they relate to each other. The puzzle refreshes nightly, with varying difficulty levels each day. Similar to Wordle, you can keep track of your winning streaks and compare scores with friends.

Some days are trickier than others. If you’re struggling with today’s Connections puzzle, don’t worry — we’ve got some hints and tips below. And if you’re still stumped, the answers are provided at the end.

How to play NYT Connections

In Connections, you’ll see a grid of 16 words. Your goal is to sort these words into four groups of four by identifying the connections that link them. These connections can be based on themes like video game franchises, book series, shades of red, chain restaurant names, and more.

Words might seem to fit multiple themes, but there is only one correct solution. You can shuffle and rearrange the words to better visualize the potential connections.

Each group is color-coded, indicating its difficulty: yellow (easiest), green, blue, and purple (hardest).

  1. Select four words and hit “Submit.” If correct, these words will be removed from the grid and the connecting theme will be revealed.
  2. If incorrect, it counts as a mistake. You have four mistakes before the game ends.
