Connections is the latest brain-teaser from the New York Times, designed to tickle your gray matter. This game challenges you to sort a set of 16 words into four mysterious categories by deciphering the hidden links between them. The puzzle refreshes nightly at midnight, offering a fresh brain workout with varying levels of difficulty each day. Like Wordle, Connections lets you track your winning streak and compare scores with friends.
Some days, the puzzle can be more perplexing than others. If you’re scratching your head over today’s Connections, we’ve got some tips and hints below. And if all else fails, we’ll provide the answers at the end.
How to play Connections
In Connections, you’re presented with a grid of 16 words. Your mission: sort these words into four groups of four by figuring out what connects them. The connections could be anything from video game titles to shades of red or restaurant names.
The tricky part? Some words might fit multiple themes, but there’s only one correct solution. You can shuffle and rearrange the words to help spot the links.
Each group has a color code: yellow is the easiest, followed by green, blue, and purple.
Select four words and hit Submit. If you’re right, those words disappear, and the theme is revealed. Guess wrong, and it counts as a mistake. You get four mistakes before the game ends.
