OnePlus is gearing up to unveil the OnePlus Open Apex Edition, an updated version of its flagship foldable phone, on August 7th. This new model will introduce a fresh Crimson Shadow color, inspired by the company’s “Never Settle” philosophy. A listing on the official website hints that the Apex Edition might come with increased RAM and storage options compared to the original OnePlus Open.
According to OnePlus, the new Crimson Shadow color is expected to be a deep crimson shade with a vegan leather finish, reflecting the company’s signature red. This new color option will join the existing choices for the OnePlus Open, which include Emerald Dusk and Voyager Black.
The original OnePlus Open, which launched in India in October 2023, was available in a single configuration with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The Apex Edition is likely to keep most of the original specifications but might offer additional RAM and storage options.
It’s worth noting that the Apex Edition is not a new generation phone but an enhanced version of the existing model. The next major release, the OnePlus Open 2, which is expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset, is rumored to be launching in the second quarter of 2025.
Key Features of the OnePlus Open:
- Inner Display: 7.82-inch 2K Flexi-Fluid LTPO 3.0 AMOLED display, with a 120Hz refresh rate and 2,800 nits of peak brightness.
- Outer Display: 6.31-inch 2K LTPO 3.0 Super Fluid AMOLED display, also with a 120Hz refresh rate and 2,800 nits of peak brightness.

The OnePlus Open Apex Edition is set to build on the success of its predecessor, offering a new look and potentially enhanced features.
