Samsung recently launched Galaxy S23 series which has different version such as S23 and S23 Ultra. What difference does the two have in their specifications?

Samsung is considered as one of the biggest and reputed smartphone brand. It’s Galaxy series is has been the best for the brand as it has dominated the market of Android users. The South Korean brand releases variety of smartphones in the market with their recent release being Samsung Galaxy S23. It also has an upgraded version of the same namely, Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. While both the models supports 5G network, the price difference is quite big.

Body

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is 163.4 x 78.1 x 8.9 mm with weight of 234 grams. It is built with glass on the front and back with frame of aluminum. The phone supports Nano-SIM and eSIM or dual SIM (2 Nano SIMs). The aluminum frame is expected to protect the phone from drop and is scratch resistance. It is also dust and water resistant up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes.

Samsung Galaxy S23 is quite smaller in size as it measures 146.3 x 70.9 x 7.6 mm and weighs 168 grams. The built and the SIM is allows is similar to Galaxy S23 Ultra as this model also has aluminum frame with glass on the front and back. It is also dust and water resistant up to 30 minutes for 1.5 meters.It supports Nano-SIM and eSIM or dual SIM.

Display

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra has employed dynamic AMOLED technology for display with refreshing speed of 120 Hz and brightness ranging from 1200 nits to 1750 nits. The size is bigger at 6.8 inches with 89.9% screen-to-body. The resolution is 1440 x 3088 pixels and has protection of corning gorilla glass victus 2.

Samsung Galaxy S23 has display of technology similar to Galaxy S23 Ultra. However, the size is different as this is smaller at 6.1 inches with screen-to-body ratio of 86.8%. The resolution is 1080 x 2400 pixels and protection is also same as S23 Ultra.

Camera

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is clearly built to set away from the crowd with its main camera of 200 MP f/1.7 (wide), 10 MP f/4.9 (periscope telephoto), 10 MP f/2.4 (telephoto), 12 MP f/2.2 (ultrawide) with features of LED flash, auto-HDR, and panorama. The phone promises high quality gaming experience with video quality of 8K @ 24/30 fps, 4K @ 30/60 fps, 1080p @ 30/60/240 fps, 1080p @ 960 fps. The front camera is 12 MP f/2.2 (wide) with dual video call and auto-HDR features. The video quality is 4K @ 30/60 fps, 1080p @ 30 fps.

Samsung Galaxy S23 has three main cameras of 50 MP f/1.8 (wide), 10 MP f/2.4 (telephoto), 12 MP f/2.2 (ultrawide). Apart from this, the selfie camera, features of both front and back camera, video quality of both front and back is similar to that of Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Memory

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra has internal storage of 256 GB with 8 GB and 12 GB RAM, 512 GB with 12 GB RAM, and 1 TB with 12 GB RAM. This model does not allow expanding storage space.

Samsung Galaxy S23 is expected to have internal storage of 128 GB, 256 GB, and 512 GB with 8 GB RAM. This model also does not permit expanding the storage space.

Battery

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra also has lithium ion battery of 5000 mAh. The non-removable battery supports wired, 15W wireless and 4.5W reverse wireless charging. It is expected to be 65% charged in 30 minutes with wired 45W charging.

Samsung Galaxy S23 has lithium ion battery of 3900 mAh. The non-removable battery is expected to be 50% charged in 30 minutes with 25W wired charging. It also supports 15W wireless and 4.5W reverse wireless charging.

Platform

Both the models – Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and Samsung Galaxy S23 – has operating system of Android 13. The chipset is Qualcomm SM8550-AC Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and CPU is octa-core (1×3.36 GHz).
