At the Cloud 11 launch event in February of this year, the OnePlus foldable phone was first mentioned. Since then, rumours concerning the putative handset’s design, price, launch date, and other pertinent details have persisted despite the company’s continued silence on the subject. Additionally, the shape of the device and several camera specifics have already been alluded to in leaked renders. The Shenzhen-based producer of mobile devices hasn’t even officially announced a model name yet. The name for the first-ever OnePlus book-style foldable phone has now been revealed through a tip.
The OnePlus Open will be the name of the foldable phone that OnePlus plans to introduce, according to tipper Max Jambor (@MaxJmb), who posted the information on Twitter. OnePlus Prime, OnePlus Peak, OnePlus Edge, and OnePlus Wing, among others, were allegedly examined as potential model names by the firm, according to him. It should be noted that the device was first hinted to have the names OnePlus V Fold and OnePlus V Flip, with certain variations depending on the location. The OnePlus Fold or OnePlus V Fold were rumoured names for the device throughout time.
The 7.8-inch 2K AMOLED inner screen and the 6.3-inch AMOLED outside display, both with a refresh rate of 120Hz, are believed to be included on the OnePlus foldable phone. According to rumours, the device will include an octa-core Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, 16GB of RAM, and 256GB of internal storage. It is believed to ship with Oxygen OS 13.1, which is based on Android 13.
According to leaked renderings, the forthcoming foldable smartphone would have a black leather surface that resembles lychee. A big, round camera module with a periscope lens and Hasselblad-branded cameras is seen on the rear panel. It is claimed that this camera offers image quality similar to the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. A 50-megapixel sensor with optical image stabilisation (OIS), a 48-megapixel sensor with an ultra-wide lens, a 32-megapixel sensor with a periscope lens, and two 32-megapixel selfie camera sensors are anticipated to be included in the phone.
Prior rumours said that the phone will come in three colours: black, gold, and green. Although it is anticipated to debut in China initially, it will gradually roll out to other areas where OnePlus devices are presently sold. The US and Indian markets would reportedly be included in the worldwide rollout as well.
