Reliance Jio, the telecom company led by Mukesh Ambani, is rumored to be launching the JioPhone 5G later this year. While official information about the device remains scarce, leaked live images of the alleged JioPhone 5G have surfaced, shedding light on its design and potential specifications. Tweeted by a reliable tipster, these images reveal a dual rear camera setup and a black color variant for the upcoming JioPhone 5G. Additionally, the leak suggests a possible launch timeline and provides key insights into the smartphone’s features. While the authenticity of these images cannot be confirmed, they offer a glimpse into what the budget-friendly device might offer.
A Twitter user (@ArpitNahiMila) shared live images of the purported JioPhone 5G, showcasing both the front and back design of the handset. According to the leaked images, the dual rear camera module is positioned at the top center, likely led by a 13-megapixel AI camera, accompanied by a 2-megapixel secondary lens.
The display of the JioPhone 5G appears to feature a waterdrop-style notch, housing a front camera that could potentially be a 5-megapixel shooter. The back of the phone is said to be constructed with a fiber plastic body, and the Jio logo can be spotted on the rear panel. The tweet also suggests that the JioPhone 5G is expected to launch later this year, potentially between Diwali and New Year, with a price tag likely to be under Rs. 10,000. The tipster further hints that the device could be powered by either a Unisoc 5G or a Dimensity 700 SoC. However, it’s important to note that these images have not been officially verified by Gadgets 360.
Previous reports speculated that the JioPhone 5G might be equipped with a Snapdragon 480 SoC, paired with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage. The phone is also rumored to offer a 6.5-inch HD+ LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate and is likely to run on Android 12 out-of-the-box. Powering the device could be a 5,000mAh battery with support for 18W charging.
In terms of pricing, a CounterPoint Research report estimated last year that the JioPhone 5G could fall within the range of Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 12,000. The device is expected to come pre-loaded with Google Mobile Services and Jio apps, further enhancing its usability for users. It is worth noting that Reliance has previously confirmed its collaboration with Google to introduce an affordable 5G smartphone.
This wouldn’t be the first time that Jio, under Ambani’s leadership, has aimed to launch budget-friendly devices for the masses. In October last year, the company unveiled its first-ever laptop, known as the JioBook. The budget laptop features an 11.6-inch display, Snapdragon 665 SoC, and a 5,000mAh battery, all offered at an attractive price point of Rs. 15,799.
With the rumored launch of the JioPhone 5G, Reliance Jio continues to make strides in the affordable smartphone market, aiming to provide accessible connectivity and digital services to a wider audience. As anticipation grows, consumers eagerly await further official announcements and details regarding the JioPhone 5G’s availability and features.
