Reliance Jio is planning to launch the most affordable Android smartphone in India. Besides being affordable, the company plans to introduce Android and other Goggle services to 2G feature phone users.

The smartphone, named as JioNext will feature Android Go, a version of Android that is meant to support low-end phones. Android Go will have all the Google services like Playstore and Google assistant and Youtube. It will also enable access to 4G connectivity, Google Maps, Facebook, and WhatsApp.

But unlike other smartphones, Android Go will not support OTT platforms and popular games. JioNext users will not be able to make Zoom calls or attend online classes.

Android Go is primarily for smartphones that are equipped with Qualcomm 2 series chipsets with less than 2GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage. JioNext will be powered by Qualcomm 215 chip.

JioNext will also enable users to use Google Assistant to get access to Jio apps like My Jio and Jio Saavn.

According to Hindustan Times Tech, JioNext is a smart plan by Jio that allows users to get an experience of Android and 4G connection without having to spend a whole lot of money.

JioPhone Next will feature a 13 MP back camera and 8 MP front camera and a 1440×720 resolution display. The phone is expected to go on sale in September.
