Google Pixel 8 price and key specifications leaked; Expected to exceed Pixel 7

Google Pixel 7 was introduced to the Indian market in October last year with a price tag of Rs. 59,999. As we approach October this year, anticipation is building for the launch of the Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, both of which have been subject to numerous rumors. The latest leaks have shed light on the pricing and specifications of the standard Pixel 8 model. Google is expected to debut the next-generation Tensor G3 SoC with the Pixel 8, featuring an OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 50-megapixel dual rear camera setup. Additionally, the Pixel 8 is rumored to come equipped with a 4,485mAh battery and 24W wired charging support.

Renowned tipster Yogesh Brar (@heyitsyogesh) recently tweeted details regarding the pricing and key specifications of the Google Pixel 8. According to the leak, the handset is set to launch in early October with a price range between $649 and $699 (approximately Rs. 53,600 and Rs. 57,700). This marks a notable price increase compared to its predecessor, the Pixel 7, which debuted at $599 (around Rs. 49,400) last year. In India, the Pixel 7 was initially priced at Rs. 59,999.

The Pixel 8 is expected to run on Android 14 and showcase a 6.17-inch full-HD+ OLED display with an impressive 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, it may house the Tensor G3 SoC, paired with 8GB of RAM. The Tensor G3 SoC is an upgrade from the Tensor G2 SoC seen in the Pixel 7 series, as well as the newly released Pixel 7a and Pixel Fold. Storage options for the Pixel 8 are rumored to include 128GB and 256GB variants. In terms of photography, the device could feature a dual rear camera system, comprising a 50-megapixel primary Samsung ISOCELL GN2 sensor with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens. For selfies, an 11-megapixel front-facing camera is expected. The Pixel 8 might house a 4,485mAh battery with 24W wired charging and 12W wireless charging capabilities. Furthermore, it could incorporate an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor for secure authentication.

The Google Pixel 7 series made its debut in October last year, alongside the highly anticipated Pixel Watch, at the ‘Made by Google’ event.
