Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 5 users benefit from improved navigation features with the latest Watch OS update

Samsung has rolled out an update for its Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5 series, bringing a significant enhancement to the Google Maps functionality on these smartwatches. The new WatchOS version, labeled 11.85.0502.W, introduces various bug fixes and claims to offer users an improved experience in discovering new places and navigating to them.

Users of the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 5 can access the update through the Play Store on their smartwatches. They simply need to navigate to the Manage Apps widget, scroll down, and select either “Update All” to update all apps or choose the Google Maps option for a specific update.

Furthermore, Samsung is expected to launch the highly anticipated Galaxy Watch 6 series at its second Galaxy Unpacked event of the year, scheduled to take place in Seoul, South Korea, in July. The upcoming lineup is speculated to include a base model and a Classic variant, with the latter rumored to feature the iconic mechanical rotating bezel. This feature will allow users to navigate through various apps and widgets on the device.

The Galaxy Watch 5 series, which was released in August 2022, offered two variants: a 40mm Bluetooth version priced at $279 (approximately Rs. 22,100) and an LTE variant priced at $329 (approximately Rs. 26,100). The watches were available in Graphite, Pink Gold, and Silver color options. The Pro model, available in Black Titanium and Gray Titanium, was priced at $449 (approximately Rs. 35,600) for the Bluetooth variant and $499 (approximately Rs. 39,600) for the LTE variant.

All models in the Galaxy Watch 5 series run on the Wear OS 3.5-based One UI Watch 4.5. The base model features a 1.4-inch Super AMOLED display for the 44mm variant and a 1.2-inch Super AMOLED display for the 40mm variant. The watches are powered by an in-house Exynos W920 SoC, equipped with 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The 44mm model boasts a 410mAh battery, while the 40mm version packs a 284mAh battery. The Galaxy Watch 5 Pro model sports a 1.4-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 450×450 pixels and is powered by a Samsung Exynos W920 SoC. It also features a Titanium case with a D-buckle sport band and is supported by a 590mAh battery.
