The rumoured Apple Watch Ultra 2nd generation, which is expected to supersede the Apple Watch Ultra, which was revealed in September 2022, is under development. According to earlier speculations, the watch may debut with a microLED display by the end of 2024 or the beginning of 2025. The release of the subsequent Watch Ultra, according to a recent report, may now be delayed until 2026. It has previously been reported that the corporation is developing microLEDs for all of their products, including the iPhone, iPad, and Mac. It was rumoured that the Apple Watch Ultra’s second iteration will introduce the microLED capability to the market for the first time.

The second iteration of the Apple Watch Ultra, or the Apple Watch Ultra 2, will launch later than initially anticipated, according to a report from TrendForce, according to a South Korean newspaper called The Elec. According to the analysis, it is expected that the corporation would introduce the smart wearable in 2026.

This runs counter to earlier predictions and leaks that said the Apple Watch Ultra 2 will debut at the end of 2024 or the beginning of 2025. According to reports, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 would have a similar, upgraded display like Apple’s other devices, which are anticipated to feature microLED screens starting in 2024. Because microLEDs, or rather, their constituent parts, are one hundred times smaller than standard LEDs, they need more time and logistical effort to construct. Consequently, the production process naturally takes longer than normal to complete.

Another factor is that Samsung Display currently holds the market lead in terms of microLED technology. However, recently, Apple has worked to diversify its supplier base in order to lessen its reliance on a single company, and as a result, is working to assist numerous other suppliers in setting up a system for microLED production. The premium Apple Watch Ultra 2 is rumoured to be the first product to use a microLED display, after which Apple will reportedly add the capability to other products.

It is still possible to buy the Apple Watch Ultra, which debuted in 2022, for the same price of Rs. 89,900 in India. There are three band colour and design possibilities for the smartwatch: Alpine, Ocean, and Trail.
