
Swiggy has just introduced a new feature called Swiggy UPI, which aims to make paying for orders smoother and easier directly within their app. By using the UPI Plug-in solution from the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), Swiggy hopes to make the payment process quicker and more convenient for its users.
With Swiggy UPI, you can now handle UPI payments right in the Swiggy app without needing to switch to another app. This cuts down the number of steps you need to complete a payment, making it as easy as one step instead of the usual five.
The feature, powered by Juspay’s HyperUPI Plugin, is designed to speed up transactions and reduce the chances of payment failures. Swiggy claims that payments that used to take over 15 seconds can now be completed in just 5 seconds.
Anurag Panganamamula, Swiggy’s Head of Revenue and Growth, emphasized the focus on making things easier for customers. He said, “We’re thrilled to bring this new UPI feature to our users. It’s part of our goal to make things as convenient as possible since UPI is becoming a popular payment method. By simplifying the payment process and reducing failures, we’re sure this will greatly improve the experience for everyone using Swiggy.”
Setting up Swiggy UPI is straightforward. You only need to link your bank account on the payment page of the app once, and then you can use your UPI PIN for all future payments. The app also quickly alerts you if there are any payment issues, so you can fix them right away.
This launch comes as UPI is gaining more traction in India. As of April 2024, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman noted that India saw around 131 billion UPI transactions. NPCI is pushing more businesses to adopt UPI to further boost digital payments.
