Homegrown alternative to Tiktok, Chingari has bagged an undisclosed amount of investment from the Founder of OLX, Fabrice Grinda and the Chief Product Officer of Tinder Brian Norgard.
“We’ve been impressed with the way Chingari has grown organically and in a very capital efficient manner so far. Chingari has been able to make its way into the hearts of the Indian people and the team is shipping upgrades at the speed like none we have seen so far”, Grinda said in a statement. Both Grinda and Norgard are known to invest in promising startups and help them launch. Norgard has previously invested in Lyft, SpaceX and NotionHQ while Brinda has investments in several big firms.
Chingari has gained popularity since Tiktok ban with over 25 million downloads. It had also won the social media category in the #AtmanirbharAppChallenge.
“We are humbled that globally acclaimed entrepreneurs like Brian Norgard and Fabrice Grinda loved the vision of the Chingari team and invested into what we are building. We are absolutely delighted to have them onboard the Chingari rocket ship and look forward to learning from them the art of building and scaling Global product companies,” Chingari CEO Sumit Ghosh said.
Chingari plans on utilizing the fund for product development, hiring talent and to enhance app features.
