Apple has revealed a dramatic redesign of the Lock Screen at WWDC 2025, introducing immersive visual updates under the new Liquid Glass design language. One of the standout features is the ability to generate a 3D scene from any 2D photo to use as dynamic wallpaper — offering a strikingly fresh and modern experience every time you unlock your phone.

With iOS 26, users can now select a regular photo from their gallery and instantly convert it into a 3D visual scene. The system uses on-device AI to add depth and perspective, making the image feel more lifelike as you move your device or shift viewing angles. This adds a personalized and cinematic effect to the Lock Screen.

Liquid Glass Lock Screen: all-screen music, adaptive time, and new icon design

Apple has reimagined the Lock Screen with a Liquid Glass aesthetic — adding translucency, smooth layers, and responsive animations throughout. For Apple Music, users will now see a full-screen interface on the Lock Screen when playing music, giving the album artwork a bold, immersive display.

App icons have also been refreshed. While they retain their original shape for recognizability, the design now features clear layers and a more fluid integration with wallpapers. Importantly, Apple is not moving toward circular icons, preserving the familiar layout while giving it a modern, crystalline finish.

Even the clock adapts dynamically based on wallpaper placement — adjusting its position and clarity depending on where and how the photo sits in the background.

These Lock Screen enhancements further unify Apple’s ecosystem under the new version 26 naming convention and reflect the company’s deeper investment in personalized design and visual fluidity.
