As per reports, drafted in the 7th round of the 2019 NFL Draft (217th overall) by the Minnesota Vikings, Boyd has since had stints with the Vikings, the Arizona Cardinals and the Houston Texans before signing with the Jets in March 2025.

What happened in the shooting incident

Early on Sunday morning in New York City, Kris Boyd was critically injured in a shooting. According to reports, the incident took place around 2 a.m. near West 38th Street and Seventh Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, outside the restaurant Sei Less.
