The Baltimore Ravens quarterback grabbed attention earlier this offseason when he appeared lighter during workouts. Jackson has lost about 25 pounds over the past two years, including a 10-pound reduction since last season. He mentioned that he’s now at the weight he was during his 2019 MVP season.
Jackson seems to be adjusting well to his lighter frame. In an interview with CBS’s Jonathan Jones, he admitted that he felt his bulkier build in 2022 made him look “fat.”
“I was fat, to me,” Jackson said. “I felt like I was fat.”

Reflecting on old footage, Jackson noted that he looked out of shape, despite being fit at the time. He also felt that the extra weight made him slower and caused him to get tired more quickly.
Jackson had previously expressed a desire to be more agile this season. He noted that the additional weight contributed to fatigue, especially when moving around on the field.
While Jackson wasn’t truly overweight or out of shape in the past—he had gained weight to better absorb hits from defenders—it’s uncertain how this weight loss will impact his performance this season. With new additions like Derrick Henry and a shift towards a more pass-heavy offense, it’s unclear if Jackson will run the ball more or simply aim to be more nimble in the pocket.
For now, Jackson appears to be feeling good about his slimmer build and is hopeful it will enhance his performance.
