Hawaiian fighter Max Holloway is a pleasing fighter with a style that makes fans get up and take notice. He puts relentless pressure on his competitors with his cardio and boxing.
After loosing his rematch to Alexander Volkanowski in medicore 2020, Although it was a very close fight, it seemed like it could trigger the downfall of one of UFC’s greatest. But Holloway proved otherwise.
In the main event of UFC fight night Holloway was in ominous form during the five-round fight where he completely battered Calvin Kattar. However Kattar tried hard to stay on but the pace and pressure of Holloway’s striking completely devasted him. It came to such a level that the commentators were suggesting for Kattar’s coaches to throw the towel in to save kattar from further damage. But yet he continued till the fifth round.
However Holloway attempted a mind-boggling 746 strikes during the fight. He broke his own UFC record for strikes landed by hitting Kattar with 445 of those.
The fight made two UFC records for combined significant strikes 578 and significant strike differential 312, 274 of those strikes landed on Kattar’s head. Remotely, judges scored the contest in Holloway’s favour. After fight fans did starred talking for Rematch with Volkanowiski.
Currently Volkanowiski is facing Brian Ortega for the title later this year. Holloway did not ask for a rematch with Volkanowski instead he let his hands do the talking. It is the fans who are demanding a match between the two featherweights now.
