The United States Soccer Federation (USSF) has come out to say that they have offered both the men’s and women’s national teams an identical contract proposal to the players’ associations. The governing body has said that they refuse to agree to a deal where the World Cup prize money is not equalized for both teams. The unions are completely separate for the men and women under the federal labour law and have no obligation to agree or bargain jointly to similar terms.

The contract expired 2 years back in December 2018 for the men while the women’s agreement runs through the upcoming month of December 2021.
“U.S. Soccer firmly believes that the best path forward for all involved, and the future of the sport in the United States, is a single pay structure for both senior national teams,” was said in a statement by the USSF as reported by PTI/AP. “This proposal will ensure that USWNT and USMNT players remain among the highest-paid senior national team players in the world,” they added.
It is said that the men’s and women’s unions did not respond to the request for comment at the earliest as the spokeswoman for the women players suing the federation, Molly Levinson denied commenting. Last week, the USSF had asked the men’s union to voluntarily equalize the bonus World Cup money that is paid by FIFA to the federation as the former men’s national team players did not respond to the requests for comment.
