On Monday during the Paralympic games 2020 held in Tokyo, Indian shooter Mahavir Swaroop Unhalkar had taken 4th place in the men’s 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1 event as he made a lot of errors and misfires in the last series. Unhalkar ended the event with a massive total of 203.9 points. He was shooting in a series of 51.2, 102.1, 122.7, 143.0, 164.2, 183.6 and 203.9 respectively. There was a shower of love and appreciation shown to Swaroop Unhalkar by many athletes and fans around India.
Tokyo Paralympic Games India had also congratulated the 34-year-old Indian for his splendid efforts and contribution in 10m Air Rifle shooting by stating ” Swaroop Unhalkar finishes just outside the podium in 4th position in Men’s 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1 Finals with a total score of 203.9″

At one point time of time during the event, the 34 year old from Kolhapur was taking the lead of the proceedings at one point of time, but with a 9.9 and 9.5, he couldn’t make him stand a chance to win a medal for the country. In the end, he had to settle for 4th as he performed well but kept misfiring a lot of shots.
In the end, it was Chao Dong of China who went on to grab the gold medal as he also set a Paralympic record with a big total of 246.5 points, with Andrii Doroshenko of Ukraine grabbed silver and Jinho Park of Japan taking the bronze with a score of 245.1 and 224.5 points respectively.
Unhalkar, who took up rifle shooting in 2009 and began participating in competitions from 2012, had advanced to the final in the seventh position after firing a total of 615.2 in the qualification round.
