The return didn’t go as it was planned for World No. 1 player as he surfers an early loss at the hands of Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the second round of the Monte Carlo Masters 2022. Djokovic was one of the heavy favourites on clay while it was expected they he would be in action against emerging star Carlos Alcaraz in the quarterfinals.

Now no Carlos Alcaraz vs Novak Djokovic at the last eight of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Monte Carlo with the Serb’s 6-3, 6-7(5), 6-1 loss against the Spaniard Davidovich Fokina who now advances to the third round.

Seems like the 2022 tennis season is not really going good in favour of the Serbian. Novak was not allowed to play at the Australian Open 2022 tournament while his Visa was cancelled twice. He then had a quarterfinals exit at the Dubai Tennis Championships against Jiri Vesely and now a loss in the return at clay in Monte Carlo. The Serbian was broken 9 times in a bo3 match. Following the loss, the player said, “I collapsed physically. Didn’t like the way I felt in the end,” reported tennis writer Jose Morgado. Djokovic further stated that he will be talking to his team about the occurrence.
