Denis Shapovalov seeks a taste of Centre Court against battle-scored idol Andy Murray. The Canadian tennis player lifted the Wimbledon boys’ trophy when Andy Murray achieved the men’s crown in 2016 and he will realise his childhood dream on Friday when he will face the home favourite in the third round of Wimbledon. So far, Denis has struggled to create any lasting impression on turf. The pesky pollen allergy had made his job tough many times when it flares up on lush green grass.
Though, Shapovalov has remarked improvement on his run to the Semi-Finals at Queen’s Club before crossing the second-round barrier at the All England Club. Shapovalov told reporters, “I think it’s a great moment for me. It’s going to be my first time on Centre Court at Wimbledon, it is super exciting for me, my team and my career.” He further added, “It is a match I grew up wanting – to play against Andy Murray in the spotlight like this.”
On the other side, Murray roared back from two sets to one down to thrash Oscar Otte and claimed that he felt “sharp pain” in his groin along with an injury that ruled him out of the claycourt swing. Shapovalov last said, ” As Murray fan, the way he turned the game in two sets, it felt like a player he was a few years back and it was exciting to watch that match.”
