Greek Tennis player, Stefanos Tsitsipas has made his entrance to the fourth round after he thrashes off France’s Benoît Paire in the third round of the Australian Open on Saturday.
Tsitsipas currently ranking no.4, was on the route of straight-set victory but certainly loses a tiebreak to Benoît Paire, before going on to witness a win by 6-3, 7-5, 6-7 (2/7), 6-4 in 2 hours and 45 minutes at Rod Laver Arena. The 23-year-old has reached the semi-finals twice in Melbourne but still hasn’t won a single Grand Slam title yet.
Stefanos Tsitsipas said to AFP, “I m happy with the way I fought at the end. He certainly didn’t have to work as hard as I did for the points, but that paid off at the end with me being consistent and patient when I had to be”.
He also says that he is glad that he won and also appreciates Benoît as being one of the best talents in our game. Stefanos believes that this win was important and also feels very special to play at this arena sharing with the crowd. He is looking forward to playing against his next opponent, Taylor Fritz, an American Tennis player currently ranking no. 22 in the fourth round.
World No. Four Greek said about Taylor Fritz that he is a big server and big hitter as he has played with him before. He believes that he needs to stay consistent while playing with Taylor and keep pushing him back.
Stefanos Tsitsipas became the first-ever Greek Tennis player to reach a Grand Slam final which was at French Open where he lost against Novak Djokovic in the previous year. He will next be clashing against Taylor Fritz on January 24, Monday.
