Dravid, the current NCA head, met the BCCI officials during the finals of IPL. In that meeting, he was offered the role by Ganguly and Shah, after Shastri would step down from the position after the ongoing T20 World Cup.
It has been brought to notice, that Shastri wishes to continue as a coach for an IPL team or commentator in the coming seasons.
