The drama started after the current coach of the Indian team, Ravi Shastri declared that he will be stepping down from his role after the T20 World Cup got over. This caused some serious stirs, as BCCI invited applications from all around for the role. This was followed by several speculations and denials of Dravid being the next in charge until BCCI made it official on the 3rd of November.

Alongside this announcement, BCCI also showed gratitude towards Ravi Shastri and his coaching staff which consisted of Bharat Arun the bowling coach, R. Shridhar the fielding coach, and Vikram Rathour the batting coach, for their invaluable contribution to the team’s success. Talking about his new role, Rahul Dravid too shared a statement in which he said, “It is an absolute honor to be appointed as the new Head Coach of the Indian Cricket team and I am really looking forward to this role… there are some marquee multi-team events in the next two years, and I look forward to working with staff and players to achieve our potential.”
