Aubameyang made his mark in the La Liga with a hattrick for Barcelona making it a 4-1 win over Valencia. With the arrival of the new boys, Ferran, Traore, Aubameyang who joined Barcelona in the January transfer window, there has been a resurrection of the Catalan giant.
Xavi says in a tweet of Fabrizio Romano, “Aubameyang has not surprised me. He has always had this ability. Adama has surprised me by recovering possession – Ferran is the one who has surprised me the most. I think he’s spectacular. Sergiño Dest is at a high level, he shows that he has a level of Barça”
The new front three has had impressive stats since their debut in Barcelona as Adama Traore provided two assists and Ferran Torres scored in the first leg. Adama’s explosive pace has been a highlight for the club and Xavi’s ‘tiki-taka’ have added to the opponent’s fears of victory against them.
Xavi was appointed as manager in November when he voiced his interest in managing his former club where he had played previously with the football greats. The tactics followed by the Spanish manager put the club forward in Naples and Valencia highlighting Xavi’s philosophy of pressing opponents, making them amongst the top four in the league and through to the round of 16 in the Europa League.
The players came forward in their match against Valencia after Russia invaded Ukraine on the same day, in a show of unity, sending a clear message in a banner held which said, “stop the war”, signifying their solidarity with Ukraine amidst the ongoing crisis.
