Manchester United and Lyon had their first leg game of the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals last night. It was nothing short of thriller as both the teams scored two goals and keep the score tied at 2-2 ahead of the second leg. Lyon who took the lead in the early minutes were dominating at first just before Leny Yoro scored the equaliser in the 45+3rd minute. Changes made the things easier for United as Zirkzee scored a beautiful header to make it 2-1. However, this lead was given away at the very last minute and now it all depends on the second leg.
Manchester United and Lyon delivered a pulsating encounter in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League quarter-final clash, ending in a dramatic 2-2 draw last night.
Lyon started brightly and took an early lead, asserting their dominance in the opening stages of the match. However, just when it seemed they would head into the break with an advantage, Manchester United found a lifeline. Leny Yoro netted the equaliser deep into stoppage time of the first half, leveling the score at 1-1.
United came out stronger after the interval, with tactical changes proving effective. Joshua Zirkzee rose highest to meet a well-delivered cross and powered home a brilliant header to give the Red Devils a 2-1 lead.
But just as United looked set to carry the momentum into the second leg, Lyon struck back in the dying moments to make it 2-2.
