UEFA Champions League: Real Madrid take the advantage over Chelsea in the first leg

Real Madrid beat Chelsea by 2-0 in the first leg of the quarter-finals.

Real Madrid has put their one leg in the UEFA Champions League 2022/23 semifinals after they defeated Chelsea by 2-0 in the first leg. It was an amazing game which entertained the fans at every point. Chelsea did show some character after some of their poor performances in the past this season. But only the character wasn’t enough for them as they needed goals which never came for them.

Frank Lampard was managing his first UCL game after becoming the boss of Chelsea for the second time a few days back. Carlo Ancelotti who have a great record in the league and especially against Chelsea, won easily by 2-0. Benzema scored in the first half which was a tap-in after the ball was deflected from Chelsea’s goalkeepeer Kepa.

A left-footed strike from the substitute Marco Asensio was so sweetly struck outside the box that Kepa had no chance to save it and Real Madrid took the deserved 2-0 lead against the visitors in the 74th minute.

Real Madrid will be going to Stamford Bridge (Chelsea’s home ground) next week for the Champions League’s quarter-finals’ second leg with an advantage.
