Manchester United defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah has left the club to join German side Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga. The 23 year old was a part of the United academy since the age of 17. Fosu-Mensah made his debut for the English club on 28 February 2016, in a 3–2 Premier League win at home to Arsenal, coming on as a 55th-minute substitute.
Fosu-Mensah did not get a lot of opportunities under former United manager Jose Mourinho at the club and had brief stints at Crystal Palace and Fulham on loan. The Dutch defender never really impressed current manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer either to certify a starting spot in the team.
Fosu-Mensah also tweeted about the move on his Twitter page:
Forever in my heart GGMU ❤️❤️❤️ https://t.co/7YPij1xBoP
