Real Madrid and Belgium goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has offered words of encouragement to young Manchester United shot-stopper Senne Lammens ahead of his potential appearance at Anfield this weekend.
Lammens, who recently joined Manchester United, made his debut in the previous fixture and caught the eye with his commanding presence. Courtois, a fellow Belgian and one of Europe’s top goalkeepers, praised the youngster’s confidence and character after his first outing in English football.
“The first game was a flavour of what United will get,” Courtois said. “He’s a tall guy, not afraid to come out on crosses, and he’s a kid with personality. I’m sure he can do a good job.”
The 22-year-old Belgian faces a stern test this weekend if selected, as United travel to Anfield to face Liverpool, one of the most intimidating stadiums in world football. Courtois acknowledged the difficulty of the challenge and jokingly advised his compatriot on how to handle the famous Kop.
