Manchester United’s manager Ruben Amorim has spoken after the 2-2 draw in the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals first leg fixture against Lyon FC. He spoke on many topics but one that made the headline was Andre Onana’s mistake on goal. Onana made two mistakes which led to both of Lyon’s goals.

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has thrown his support behind under-fire goalkeeper Andre Onana following the team’s 2-2 draw against Lyon in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League quarter-final clash.

Onana was at fault for both of Lyon’s goals, raising fresh concerns over his form. However, Amorim refused to single out the Cameroonian shot-stopper for criticism, instead taking personal responsibility for the team’s overall performance.

“If you look at the season, I’ve made more mistakes than the players during these last months, it happens. It can happen if you play football,” Amorim said during the post-match press conference.

The Portuguese coach stressed that errors are part of the game and showed confidence in his players to bounce back in the second leg at Old Trafford.
