Real Madrid’s attacking midfielder Eden Hazard will undergo ankle surgery in the coming few days. The Belgian’s multiple injuries and poor fitness prohibited him to appear for most of the matches for Los Blancos that could have had a regular spot at the club since he arrived from the Premier League club, Chelsea.
In a recent medical report of Hazard that was released on March 25, the Spanish club stated on their official site, “Our player Eden Hazard will undergo surgery in the next few days to remove the osteosynthesis plate on his right fibula.” This means, Hazard, won’t be available for the La Liga table-toppers anytime soon.
The 31-year-old who has not played for almost a month for 13-times European champions is again anticipated to be sidelined following surgery. He last appeared for the Spanish side the previous month on 19 February against Alaves as a substitute that lasted for just 5 minutes. The Belgium star has just played 65 games for Carlo Ancelotti’s team since he was bought from the Blues in 2019.
Being one of the highest-paid players in the Real Madrid squad, the club is reportedly looking to sell him this summer to manage wage budget and in the hope to sign long-time interest Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe and Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland.
