Barcelona winger Raphinha has opened up about his recent Ballon d’Or experience, admitting he initially felt disappointed after missing out on the prestigious award, but later found valuable lessons in humility and gratitude.

“Yes, I had high expectations of winning the Ballon d’Or,” Raphinha said in a recent interview. “I was disappointed, but it taught me humility and perspective.”

The Brazilian international, who finished fifth in the Ballon d’Or rankings, said the recognition was an incredible milestone but emphasized that his focus remains on team success rather than personal accolades.

“The Ballon d’Or is an individual award, but football is a team sport,” he noted. “When I look at everything I achieved with Barcelona and Brazil, I realise how much I have to be thankful for instead of disappointed. I am grateful.”

Raphinha enjoyed an outstanding season with Barcelona, contributing key goals and assists in their domestic and European campaigns. His performances also shone on the international stage with Brazil, further cementing his reputation as one of the top wingers in world football.
