Emmanuel Petit, a World Cup champion for France, has told Kylian Mbappe to “grow up” because the forward is “annoying” at the Paris Saint-Germain.
The ex-France international has called out Mbappe for a number of off-field actions that have frequently left PSG coach Christophe Galtier embarrassed. The PSG talisman, according to Petit, is out of touch with reality and ought to put the club’s interests above of any personal considerations. “He annoys everyone today. He makes it personal all the time,” he said to RMC Sport. He further stated that the club is more significant than any player.
The French star used the hashtag “Pivot gang” in a cryptic Instagram story that was posted to his account. This has been taken as a dig at Galtier after he was used as a lone striker against Reims. The French forward reportedly received guarantees that he would not play in PSG’s customary front three but rather in a two-man attack with a player in behind.
During August’s 5-2 victory against Montpellier for PSG, Mbappe and Neymar got into a fight over a penalty. Neymar and Mbappe quarrelled over who should take PSG’s second penalty after Mbappe had previously in the game missed a penalty. When Neymar finally took it and scored, Mbappe chose not to join his teammate in the celebration. Neymar then liked a number of tweets criticising Mbappe. Following that, Mbappe chose to shoot against Juventus instead of passing to Neymar, but he missed the goal.
