In an interview with Sky Sports, French midfielder Paul Pogba spoke about Manchester United’s ambitions for the season and had his say on comparisons with current champions Liverpool.

When asked if United were on Liverpool’s level, Pogba said, “Obviously we cannot say now we are at the same level as them because they won the Premier League and keep winning so the day we win – that is when we say we are at the same level. If you want to be the best you have to beat the best. We want to beat the Premier League winners.”

Pogba also reckoned United can win the league but it would be a tough road ahead.

“We know how difficult it will be and we just have to focus and try to stay at the top. I think we can win it if we keep our focus but there’s a lot of teams that can win it – we are not there yet, we are still very far.”

Manchester United have had a very absurd season where they have been plenty of highs and lows for the Reds Devils. Going out of the Champions League in the group stage, the 6-1 loss to Tottenham Hotspur, a 4th semi final loss for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have been instances where United have been heavily criticized.

They have also had their highs where they beat PSG 2-1 at the Parc Des Princes, a 5-0 win over Leipzig and a good Christmas period that now finds them at the top of the Premier League, 3 points clear off reigning champions Liverpool.

Manchester United’s biggest test this season will be an away trip to Anfield to play current champions Liverpool on Sunday, January 17.
