Pierre-Emile Højbjerg has officially signed with Olympique Marseille on a permanent transfer from Tottenham Hotspur. The Danish midfielder moves to Marseille after joining Spurs in 2020 from Southampton for £15 million, when José Mourinho was in charge.
Last season, Højbjerg made 39 appearances for Tottenham, though only 10 were as a starter, with Ange Postecoglou favoring Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr in midfield.
Højbjerg is now in the final year of his contract with Tottenham and would be available on a free transfer in 2025 if new terms are not agreed.
Tottenham have already bolstered their midfield this summer with the acquisitions of Archie Gray from Leeds and Lucas Bergvall from Djurgårdens.
Marseille, under new manager Roberto de Zerbi, has been active in the transfer market. Alongside Højbjerg, they have signed forward Mason Greenwood from Manchester United and midfielder Ismael Kone from Watford. The club is also reportedly interested in Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah.
