Luton Town have officially confirmed the appointment of former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere as their new manager. The 33-year-old takes charge of the Hatters in what will be his first full-time managerial role in senior football.
Wilshere, who began his youth career at Luton before joining Arsenal at the age of nine, expressed his delight at returning to where it all started. “It feels like a full-circle moment for me. I was eight when I first came to Luton as a boy, so I guess you could say it’s fate that my first full-time club managerial position is at this club,” said Wilshere in his first interview as Luton boss.
The former England international retired from professional football in 2022 after an injury-plagued career that saw him make over 190 senior appearances, primarily for Arsenal and Bournemouth. Following his retirement, Wilshere began coaching Arsenal’s Under-18s, leading them to the FA Youth Cup final in 2023. His work at the academy level earned him widespread praise for his tactical understanding and player development skills.
